Mathieu Friedberg, Vice-Presidente para África da CMA CGM, comenta: “Este novo serviço permite-nos fornecer ligações mais rápidas e fiáveis para toda a carga que provém da Europa, do Mediterrâneo, Índia, do Golfo do Médio Oriente e da América do Sul, ao abrir a oportunidade de desenvolver o serviço de cabotagem em Moçambique.”O serviço é, além do serviço semanal Mozex da CMA CGM, da Beira para o Porto de Kelang, na Malásia, operado em sistema de empreendimento conjunto com a Maersk, que utiliza uma frota de oito embarcações, variando entre 2.100 e 2.500 TEUs de capacidade. Now the line is seeking to further consolidate its presence with improved customer service and increased logistics solutions through the opening of its purpose-built covered 10,000m2 inland container depot on a 50,000m2 site close to the Port of Beira.The new off-port facility is designed to offer a fast and efficient one-stop shop operation for both full and empty boxes being carried on the vessels that maintain a shuttle sailing every eight days between Beira and Durban, allowing MSC to get cargo in and out of Beira on a weekly basis.PIL Pacific International Line has introduced a new 27,000 DWT multi-purpose vessel on its East Africa Trade Line, loading from Shanghai, Jintang, xingang and discharging in Beira plus Dar Es Salaam and Mtwara.The new vessel, Kota Bistari, operates in addition to PIL’s five other monthly rotations between Beira and Singapore.PIL is one of the largest ship-owners in Southeast Asia and ranks 16th amongst the world’s top containership operators.The world’s third largest container line, CMA CGM has expanded service opportunities through the Port of Beirawith its Rhino Express feeder service.The service, utilising vessels up to 314 TEU capacity, offers direct connections between Beira and Durban, as well as other Mozambican ports.Mathieu Friedberg, CMA CGM’s Senior Vice President African Lines, comments: “This new service allows us to provide faster and more reliable connections for all cargo from Europe, the Mediterranean, India, Middle East Gulf and South America, while opening the opportunity to develop cabotage in Mozambique.”The service is in addition to CMA CGM’s established weekly Mozex service from Beira to Port Kelang, Malaysia, operated as a joint enterprise with Maersk, which utilises a fleet of eight vessels ranging from 2,100-2,500 TEUs capacity.
