Isto inclui a estimulação do desenvolvimento regional e local – com o Corredor de Nacala a representar uma das áreas de foco – a melhoria das competências da população local e a abordagem de questões ambientais e de gestão de catástrofes.As melhorias no Porto de Nacala também estão a ser financiadas pela JICA. Através da sua experiência e conhecimentos sobre gestão operacional do dia-a-dia, a Portos do Norte contribui para o projecto da JICA, assegurando o crescimento do porto de forma responsável, sem que o porto ou o utilizador final incorram em custos desnecessários.As três fases de desenvolvimento são conhecidas como a fase de Grant Aid, Primeiro Empréstimo (Loan One) e Segundo Empréstimo (Loan Two). This includes the stimulation of regional and local development – with the Nacala Corridor being one of the areas of focus – improving the skills of the local population and dealing with environmental issues and disaster management.Improvements at the Port of Nacala are also being driven by JICA. Portos do Norte is contributing its expertise and day-to- day operational knowledge to JICA’s plans, which ensures the port will grow responsibly without incurring unnecessary cost for either the port or the end user.The three phases of development are known as the Grant Aid phase, Loan One and Loan Two. The first phase, known as the Grant Aid phase, which initiated in April 2014,was completed in September 2015. In this first phase, berth number 3 and 4 in the north terminal have been rehabilitated ensuring safer operations and increased productivity. Berth number 4 is dedicated to liquid cargo and has also been equipped with loading arms to guarantee the efficiency in handling liquid products.
