A formação ISPS está a ser alargada a outros agentes de segurança, para que também estes possam obter a certificação.A Autoridade Marítima de Moçambique e a Guarda Costeira dos EUA estão igualmente envolvidos de perto nos esforços do porto no sentido de garantir que os procedimentos de segurança são continuamente optimizados. Isto originou um plano de segurança abrangente – apresentado e aprovado pela Autoridade Marítima – com base numa avaliação minuciosa dos riscos e vulnerabilidades do porto.Um dos elementos-chave deste plano é a colaboração entre o porto e os navios que lá fazem escala. O objectivo éThe Port of Nacala is determined to fully realise the demand for its services but will always do so in a safe and secure manner.The port is already certified as International Ship and Port Facility Security (ISPS) Code compliant, as is its chief of security. ISPS training is being extended to other security personnel so that they too will eventually become certified.The Mozambican Maritime Authority and the US Coast Guard are also closely involved in the port’s efforts to ensure security procedures are continually optimised. This has led to a comprehensive security plan – submitted to, and approved by, the Maritime Authority – based on a thorough assessment of the risks and vulnerabilities at the port.One of the key elements to the plan is collaboration between the port and calling vessels. The aim is to have every vessel knowing what is required of it in terms of security before it can dock. The vessel must then communicate its compliance.
