Neste grupo incluem-se a Alcântara Santos, com 1.705 DWT e de construção japonesa, a Aruângwa, com 1.705 DWT, a draga de pequenasdimensõese Tembe, de 317,64 DWT, fabricada na Holanda e a draga de escavação Lúrio, de 169 DWT e construída na Noruega.A empresa também opera um rebocador de 112 t baptizado Chire e duas barcaças de 703 toneladas, a BDBI e a BDBII, como equipamento auxiliar. GAt 82m long, Macuti can dredge up to a maximum depth of 25m. It is operated by two 1,720kW/1,000 rpm diesel engines and using a 1,935kW dredging pump engine. It travels at a speed of 11 knots and is operated by a crew of 24. It is regarded as one of the most modern and efficient dredgers currently at work in African waters.The on-going operation follows an earlier emergency capital dredging project completed in 2011 by Rotterdam- based Van Oord Dredging and costing €43 million, financed by state-owned transport and railways company Portos e Caminhos de Ferro de Moçambique (CFM), the European Investment Bank and the Dutch government’s ORET international development initiative. Van Oord dredged the approaches to the port to the required depth of 8-9m and width of 230m, removing 9,468,412m3 of sediments at the daily rate of 13,000m3.The acquisition of new equipment now makes it possible for ships entering the channel to again move towards their berths at night following installation of lighting buoys and acquisition of new navigation equipment.EMODRAGA operates four dredgers working to make the Port of Beira safer and more navigable. They include the 1,705 DWT Japanese-built Alcântara Santos, the 1,705 DWT Aruângwa, 317.64 DWT Netherlands-made small dredger Tembe and the 169 DWT Norwegian-built grab dredger Lurio.The company also operates a 112-ton tug Chire and two 703-ton barges BDBI and BDBII as auxiliary equipment.
